HighEdWeb becomes Digital Collegium on Nov. 1. Discover the new brand

Lightning strikes twice: Building content strategy around an unexpected success

What do you do when you discover you’ve inadvertently created a blog post that receives top organic search traffic month after month? If you’re the Marketing and Communications team at Purdue University Northwest, you see if you can build the blueprints to do it again.

We took that post and paired it with student search knowledge to create five new posts that are the ideal balance between broad appeal and personal relevance. These “explainer” posts about academic programs capture the attention of prospective students, as well as general audiences, bringing in organic traffic with high amounts of engagement.

A pinch of SEO here and a dash of rephrased academic jargon there, and we have a recipe for a high traffic post!
