The Annual Conference Local Recruitment Coordinator works as part of the Conference Committee, on the Marketing and Communications team and is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to network with and recruit local web professionals to attend the conference.

General responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment of local conference attendees by identifying local marketing opportunities and making connections.
  • Build a network of regional ambassadors and provide messaging and marketing materials they can use to promote the conference at their schools.
  • Provide input on bringing a good sense of place and location to the conference.
  • Provide local insight to conference discussions and decisions.
  • Coordinate with Events Coordinator to plan and organize off-site/evening networking events.
  • Assist with both on- and off-site event coordination, management and execution.
  • Assist with conference setup (AV, bag stuffing, etc.).
  • Assist with online communication channels, including Slack, during the conference and answer attendees’ questions.
  • Attend all committee meetings.
  • Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Promote the conference through personal social media and professional networks.

Qualifications

Required

  • Membership in the Association (including free general membership), which can be fulfilled at application.
  • Ability to project manage and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to self-manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Strong preference given to volunteers local to event site

Preferred

  • Network of business associates and connections in local area
  • Ability to manage expectations of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc.
  • Google Drive proficiency.

Estimated time commitment

  • The position is expected to virtually attend scheduled Conference Committee and other scheduled team meetings.
  • The time commitment for committee work varies, with a minimum of 3 hours per month and a peak commitment of 20 hours per month (attendance at the Annual Conference notwithstanding).

Length of appointment

One Annual Conference season (usually November – November)

Conference attendance

Annual conference attendance is required. Conference registration is waived for this position.
