The vice chair is responsible for assisting with the details of implementing the annual Analytics & AI Summit and operation of committee meetings. In general, the vice chair helps coordinate logistical details of the summit. The vice chair helps the chair lead and organize the committee to ensure successful execution of the event.
Responsibilities
General
- Assigns tasks in the project management system and follows up with assignees to ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
- Facilitate regular monthly meetings:
- Discuss agenda items with the chair and help with related documentation.
- Ensure meeting notes are taken and shared.
- Coordinate with the chair for setting action items and following up with members.
- Aid in recruiting and developing committee members as needed.
- Serve in place of the chair as needed.
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Qualifications
Required
- Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and help manage others.
- Attention to detail and ability to self-manage multiple responsibilities.
- A customer-service mindset in written and verbal communication.
Preferred
- Proven experience planning and/or executing an event, especially a HighEdWeb event.
- Skilled in project management, including how to plan and execute projects with a team.
- Event management or project management experience.
- Proficiency with Clickup or similar project management tools.
Estimated time commitment
- A committee vice chair is expected to virtually attend and sometimes lead meetings.
- The time commitment for committee work varies and is flexible to meet your needs, with a minimum of 4-5 hours per month.
Length of appointment
One Analytics & AI Summit planning season (typically 12-18 months) as vice chair with the expectation to become chair once that position is vacated.

Analytics & AI Summit attendance is required, and the registration fee is waived for this position.
