Homepage reality check

We thought our homepage was meeting the needs of all our website audiences… but was it really? Our homepage was a classic example of a design that tried to appeal to all audiences, but ended up appealing to no one.

I will demonstrate how I used a simple, two-part analysis to discard assumptions and guesswork and design a completely new homepage bolstered with objective data to guide my decisions.

In this talk, you will learn how to use analytics to determine your website’s primary audiences and their unique goals. I will demonstrate some basic free tools to help you measure how aligned your current homepage is with the actual needs of your audiences. Empowered by this easy-to-understand data, you will gain new freedom to abandon ineffective design conventions and reimagine how your homepage can support your audiences’ needs in new and interesting ways.
