Senior Web Developer

Position Summary
The Senior Web Developer has primary responsibility in executing the web development efforts for the Office of Marketing and Communications, which oversees the College’s external-facing web presence that is within the department’s purview. This role demonstrates initiative in developing solutions that bridge the creative with the technical, and works in partnership with colleagues and campus partners in developing solutions for the College’s long-range web development goals.

The Senior Web Developer is a resourceful web professional, as well as a quick learner. They exercise good judgment by demonstrating an awareness of web development priorities aimed at advancing the College’s communications and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Shepherding the Office’s site-building and development efforts for the College’s main Drupal website;
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues in planning and implementing design solutions that improve user experience;
  • Spearheading the maintenance of the codebase to meet the College’s needs;
  • Supporting the Director of Web Communications and Development in guiding web projects.

Specific Duties:

  • Support web projects by scoping and writing specifications documents.
  • Cultivate professional development strategies aimed at keeping skills current with technology trends and best practices.
  • Partnering with the Director of Web Communications and Development to plan and direct administrative initiatives to meet the developing needs of the College’s web publishing community.
  • Responsible for developing, enhancing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, implementing, and maintaining the college website for multiple web browsers using the current, adopted web application tools; ensuring security, and standards compliance; analyzing customer workflow; designing efficient and effective solutions according to development best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of experience in developing websites
  • Solid project management skills, including a familiarity with agile development methodologies, and demonstrated experience using project management/tracking tools.
  • Understanding of and commitment to follow and/or enforce web, College identity, and accessibility standards;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated experience prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, working under deadline pressure, and handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Enthusiastic service orientation with sensitivity to the needs of users at all skill levels; the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience is essential.
