“Can YOU help Miami prove we’re more cybersecure than Ohio University?”
CyberMania is a campus-wide campaign asking students, faculty and staff to answer a five-question quiz about cybersecurity best practices. Throughout the month of October (National Cybersecurity Awareness Month), Miami University and Ohio University competed to see which campus could produce the most engagement with the survey. Using colorful graphics, engaging social media posts, helpful articles and a physical booth in a central location on campus, Miami’s team soundly proved we are more “cybersecure” than Ohio in our inaugural event in October 2023!
This event is the latest in a long line of collaborative activities for the IT Communications team and the Information Security Office. We work closely together to keep the university community apprised of security best practices, incidents and awareness events designed to improve our cybersecurity posture. CyberMania is one such awareness campaign undertaken by the Miami University ISO and the Ohio University ISO. The inaugural event showed the power of collaboration not only between higher education institutions, but also internally between the communications group, security professionals and our student employees.
In this presentation, I will discuss the setup and execution of this fun awareness campaign, and I will walk through a sample content calendar for October!
