Preparing Gen Z for the workforce with Voxer, trampolines and Brene Brown

Emotional intelligence is often touted as a key skill employees must demonstrate to land fulfilling employment. But how do you teach it during a global pandemic to graduating seniors six states away? Since March 2020, the Community Research Institute at Charleston Southern University has answered this question using new technology — like Voxer, Netflix and Zoom — and old — like listening skills. This poster will explain how the CRI has created space via technology for students to explore empathy, emotional intelligence, curiosity through exclusively electronic communication. The CRI also trains students in professional uses of social media, which this presentation will address.
