From senior leadership to page editors, everyone says they want access to website analytics. But how do you share web stats in a way that’s useful — without overwhelming your audience or wasting your time building reports that nobody reads? At Purdue University Northwest, we’ve used Google Analytics and Google Data Studio to build a flexible framework of custom reports for clients across campus. How does it work? Every stakeholder has access to automated reports offering real-time updates on KPIs and basic website reporting. These baseline reports are supplemented with a range of custom reports, everything from campaign reports recapping homecoming promotions to a monthly, high-level dashboard for PNW’s senior leadership team. In this presentation, I will share:

  • Go-to goals: how we identified and tracked our top KPIs.
  • Bringing in stats from Meltwater, Facebook and other non-Google platforms.
  • Tips and tricks for using photos and other design elements to make the reports more pleasing to the eye…and less easy to ignore.
